Lot Description
Stencil kit identified to Private Tilman Shupe, Company I, 85th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment, mortally wounded at Peach Tree Creek, GA, 21 July 1864.
2 1/8 x 1 3/4 in. large stencil with patriotic eagle and star motif (some bending to metal, with surface wear throughout including spots of soiling and discoloration). Housed in a tin case with two brushes, glass inkwell, and his wife's stencil.
Private Shupe died of wounds received at the Battle of Peach Tree Creek just one day after the battle, on 21 July 1864.
