Lot Description
A group of 4 Civil War-period shaving accessories, comprising:
An embossed gutta percha razor case marked J.R. Torrey Co., Worchester, Massachusetts on the top. The burgundy silk-lined box holds a straight razor which has a waving flag and “The Union Must & Shall Be Preserved” on the blade. The blade was manufactured by Wade & Butcher, Sheffield (some damage on both ends of the case).
[With:] A shaving mug with a wooden handled shaving brush.
[With:] A patriotic, round zinc mirror with an eagle on the front and the words “United States of America" and a Paris maker referenced on the back.
[Also with:] Small colorful shaving soap box from Comstock Co. Three sides feature depictions of a naval officer, a military soldier, and a fireman. The fourth side includes directions for use.
