Private Byron A. Straight, Company B, 112th New York Volunteer Infantry. A group of personal effects including Union Army fork and spoon, checkers, and dominoes.
Spoon and fork portion of stamped Union Army Knife set (dark patination, spotting). -- A set of 24 wooden dominos (some with significant chipping, most with minor nicks and scratches). -- 16 bone checkers, 5 of which retain red coloring (most with splits to edges and surface wear consistent with age and use). Provenance: All items sold by Straight's granddaughter, Mrs. Anna Fern Sherwood, Jamestown, NY to Mr. Julian Converse, Massillon, OH.
[With:] Documentation including correspondence between Anna Fern Sherwood and Julian Converse and Sherwood's identification tags.
Byron Straight mustered into Company B, 112th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment on 7 August 1862 and was mustered out on 13 June 1865 at Raleigh, NC.
