A Federal Spiral-Twist Carved Mahogany Bow Front Chest of Drawers

19th Century

Height 41 1/2 x width 44 1/2 x depth 20 1/4 inches.

Condition Report

In overall fine and usable condition. Retaining a fairly even, rich patina throughout. Old scuffs, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Few small age cracks to the case. Drawer pulls are later replacements. There is a slight wobble to the chest due to one missing cap on one of the rear legs (caps are later and just to keep them from catching on the floor). Drawer action is fairly smooth throughout. Previously fitted with a backsplash that is no longer present. Few areas of loss to the molding along the sides of the case. Minor losses to inlay. The proper front right leg was previously cracked and reglued at the junction with the case.
