Lot Description
[FLAGS AND PATRIOTIC TEXTILES]. A group of 2 presidential campaign flags, comprising:
"Roosevelt for President" printed cotton flag affixed to 30 in. wooden dowel rod, 17 1/4 x 12 1/8 in. (light soil, fraying to edges of fabric). -- "Hoover for President" printed cotton flag on wooden dowl rod, 17 1/4 x 12 1/8 in. (light soil, fraying to edges of fabric, dowel rod broken at base of flag).
Herbert Hoover was the Republican nominee for president in the 1928 election, and served as the 31st president of the United States (1929-1933). The second flag was likely in support of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the Democratic nominee for president in the 1932 presidential election.
