[RECONSTRUCTION]. A group of 26 General Orders, many concerning the post-war governance of the South, as well as death announcements of President Franklin Pierce, Edwin Stanton, and Generals Wool, Rosseau, and Rawlins, comprising: 

General Orders No. 64. Washington, 20 May 1865. A reprint of Special Orders, No. 215 originally issued on 8 May 1865 granting that "paroled officers and men of the late rebel armies, whose homes were, at the date of their joining these armies, in States that have never been in rebellion, and whoa re not excepted from the benefits of the President's Amnesty Proclamation, will, upon taking the oath prescribed therein, be permitted to return to their former homes." Signed by Silas Cannum, Acting Assistant Adjutant-General. -- TOWNSEND, E.D. General Orders No. 10. Washington, 5 March 1869. Assigning the command of various areas to Union generals including General Sheridan to command the Department of Louisiana, General Hancock to command the Department of Dacotah [sic], and the Department of the South to be commanded by General A.H. Terry.  -- GRANT, Ulysses S. General Orders No. 64. Washington, 1 September 1869. A proclamation designating the date "for submitting the Constitution adopted by the Convention which met in Austin, Texas, on the 15th day of June, 1868, o the voters of said State." Signed in type by Grant. -- GRANT, Ulysses. General Orders No. 69. Washington, 9 October 1869. Withy morning borders, President Grant (signed in type) acknowledges the death of President Franklin Pierce. -- GRANT, Ulysses and William W. BELKNAP. General Orders No. 84. Washington, 24 December 1869. Announcement of the death of Edwin M. Stanton. -- And 21 others, including duplicates of General Orders 10, 25, 40, 64, 67, and 85 from 1869, condition generally very good, occasional toning or wear at edges.
