[MEXICAN-AMERICAN WAR]. SCOTT, Winfield (1786-1866). General Orders No. 373. Mexico, 13 December 1847. Signed by Henry Lee SCOTT (1814-1886).
1 page, 6 1/4 x 6 3/4 in., short marginal tears, old creases.
Issued on 13 December 1847 with details of detachments for General Smith's Brigade, General Cadwalader's Brigade, and Colonel Riley's Brigade. Signed ("H.L. Scott") by Major General Henry Lee Scott, son-in-law to General Winfield Scott (last names are by coincidence). Henry Lee Scott, who was married to Winfield's daughter Cornelia, served as his father-in-law's aide-de-camp throughout the Mexican War and continued in the role until the Civil War.
