Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. [FLOYD, William Pryor (1834-ca 1900), photographer]. Album containing 22 photographs documenting the effects of the 1874 typhoon in Hong Kong. 

Quarto album (8 x 13 in.) 200 x 330 mm. 22 albumen photographs ranging in size from 4 x 5 1/2 in. to 4 1/4 x 10 3/8 in., mounted recto/verso to 7 3/4 x 12 in. album pages, with original tissue guards (prints overall very good, even toning, few with light creases; corner and edge wear to album pages, last album page with small hole in lower margin below the print, wear to tissue guards). One quarter calf gilt with brown watered silk covered boards (stains, scuffing to extremities, minor losses to spine). Although uncredited, the photographs were likely taken by British photographer William Pryor Floyd who operated a studio in Hong Kong during the 1860s-1870s.

Each photograph with a separately printed numbered title and description.
