[NAVAL HISTORY]. The Representation of his Majesty's Ship Mediator of 44 Guns Commanded by the Honorable Capt. James Luttrell. Glass transparency.
25 1/2 x 20 1/2 in. (visible) glass transparency illustrating the following scene, as titled (in part) in lower margin: "The Representation of His Majesty’s Ship MEDIATOR of 44 Guns Commanded by the Honourable CAPT.N JAMES LUTTRELL. / Bearing down at Sun rise, on the Morning of the 12,,th of December 1782, to Attack Five Sail of the Enemy..." Framed, 32 1/4 x 27 1/2 in. (transparency affixed to frame backing with postal tape, which is partially detached from backing, transparency a bit dark; some wear to frame).
Originally published as an engraving and etching on paper in 1784, this glass transparency was almost certainly made later, ca 19th century or after.
