Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Sixth plate tintype of an armed Union soldier posed before a Classically-inspired studio backdrop.
Sixth plate tintype. (Loss to image near center of plate, with image residue on cover glass, very good clarity otherwise.) Housed in a Halverson case with leather panel (tarnish to metal, surface wear/scuffing to leather panels). A studio portrait of an anonymous fully accoutered federal infantryman holding an imported Austrian rifle with bayonet fixed. There appears to be a narrow bladed knife tucked into his belt. The subject stands against a painted backdrop adorned with classical architecture.
