[KING, Martin Luther, Jr. (1929-1968)]. DODSON, Henry David (1932-2016), photographer. A group of 4 photographs of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., his family, and Ebenezer Baptist Church. Atlanta, GA, 1960s.
Each approx. 13 7/8 x 11 in. photograph (minor creasing at edges); each affixed to 20 x 16 in. board with affixed mat (occasional staining or brown spotting). Each mat with green title label and photographer's mark.
Birthplace. Dr. King is pictured in front of his childhood home at 501 Auburn Ave NE, Atlanta, with two of his children, Yolanda and Martin III. -- The Church King Loved. View of Ebenezer Baptist Church where Dr. King served as co-pastor. -- Nobel Winner Honored at Home. Taken at the Nobel Peace Prize recognition dinner organized by the National Conference of Christians and Jews at Dinkler Plaza Hotel, Atlanta, 27 January 1965. Pictured is Rabbi Jacob M. Rothschild of the Hebrew Benevolent Congregation, a civil rights advocate, and friend of Dr. King. -- Final Resting Place. Dr. King, Coretta Scott King, and their four children walk through a hallway. (Note, mat detached, possibly indicating the wrong mat/title).
Henry David Dodson (1932- 2016) was an African American portrait photographer, Atlanta city alderman (1969), and the first African American Board Commissioner for Fulton County in 1974. His family home was located across the street from Dr. King’s childhood home and he was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
