[SLAVERY & ABOLITION]. A group of 11 documents recording the sale of enslaved persons in Cuba. 1872-1877.
Folio pages from ledger recording legal events in eastern Cuba, 8 1/2 x 12 3/8 in. (removed from ledger, chipping to edges, ink bleeding and discoloration). Dated 1872-1877, and with Cuban government seals. Documents record the sale of enslaved persons including a 56-year-old creole man named Benito, an 18-year-old creole man named Florentin, an 18-year-old creole woman named Avelina, a 32-year-old creole woman named Maria de la Paz, a 22-year-old creole woman named Elvira, a black Chinese woman named Solicita (age indecipherable), and others.
