[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 23 cased images, incl. daguerreotype, ambrotype, and tintype portraits
Half plate daguerreotype portrait of a mother, father, and small child, posed affectionately. (Heavy tarnishing to edges, heavy wiping, some scratches and spotting to plate, no preserver present; unsealed.) Housed in a leatherette case (significant wear throughout). -- Sixth plate daguerreotype portrait of a dapper man wearing a large top hat, his cheeks lightly tinted pink. (Spotting and clouding to image plate, spotting to mat; unsealed.) Housed in a leatherette case (significant wear throughout). -- A pair of ninth plate daguerreotype images of the same painted portrait of a seasoned woman, one likely a copy of the other. (Original image with heavy tarnishing and spotting throughout and no preserver, the copy with clouding and spotting; original unsealed, copy resealed.) Housed in leatherette cases (one fully separated at spine, significant wear to each). -- And 19 others, including 8 sixth plate daguerreotypes, 3 sixth plate ambrotypes, one ninth plate daguerreotype, 6 ninth plate ambrotypes, and one ninth plate tintype, including some with photographer's advertising cards behind images. -- Together, 23 cased images featuring men, women, and children.
