A collection of 26 daguerreotype, ambrotype, and tintype portraits of subjects posed with hats, including:
Half plate ruby ambrotype portrait of a man wearing an eastern European-style hat, flanked by two women wearing bonnets and shawls. (Abrasions to plate, surface scratches and spotting throughout; resealed.) Housed under mat and glass only, no preserver, no case. -- Sixth plate daguerreotype portrait of a young bearded gentleman posed with an upturned top hat resting on the table next to him. (Heavy clouding and some weeping to image, heavy spotting/oxidation to mat, no preserver present; resealed.) Housed in a Halvorsen case (significant wear througout). -- Sixth plate ambrotype seated portrait of a young man with long hair holding a hat on his lap. (Clear image, light spotting; unsealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case (surface wear and some separation to spine). -- Sixteenth plate daguerreotype portrait of a woman wearing a wide-brimmed hat. (Significant tarnishing to edges). Housed in a floral Union case. -- And 22 others, including one half plate daguerreotype, 12 sixth plate daguerreotypes, 2 sixth plate ambrotypes, one sixth plate tintype, 3 ninth plate daguerreotypes, one ninth plate ambrotype, and 2 ninth plate tintypes. -- Together, 26 portraits of people with hats, 6 overall housed in Union cases.
