Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY - TINTYPE]. A pair of tintypes featuring subjects in western dress, comprising:
2 3/4 x 3 7/8 in. tintype portrait of two men wearing vaguely western-style clothing and making knots with ropes. N.p.: n.p., [1884]. (Surface wear to image including some abrasions to right side and lower right corner, crackling to emulsion throughout, most corners clipped.) Loosely housed in a paper sleeve with inscribed date "Aug. 14th 1884." -- 2 1/4 x 3 5/8 in. tintype portrait of a young man wearing a cowboy hat, coat, western-style shirt, and what appear to be chaps. (Bending, and creasing to plate, with wear to edges and corners including clipping, few spots and abrasions to image surface.) Housed loosely in a paper sleeve with embossed border. -- Together, 2 tintypes of western dressed subjects.
[With:] 2 1/2 x 4 in. clipped cabinet card image of a man dressed in western garb and holding a rifle. Partial bakcmark for a Denver photographer visible to verso.
