Lot Description
FOREMAN, Leotta (1895-1984). Album featuring original photographs of early Washington state.

Personal album of Miss Leotta Foreman, inscribed on first page "My High School / 'Stunt Book' / Begun Jan. 11, 1913," and containing over 330 photographs including views of early Washington state views. Oblong quarto, original black cloth, with 50 black paper leaves (17 blank). Mounted images measuring approx. 4 1/4 x 6 1/4 in. to 2 3/4 x 2 in., many postcard sized. Album spans ca 1911-1914 and includes white ink manuscript titles beneath many images. 

Images include numerous views and group portraits taken in Mount Rainer National Park, near the Columbia River, Stehekin River, Rainbow Falls and other scenic outdoor locations. 

Also includes approximately 20 real photo postcards, each titled in the negative, including 17 by L.D. Lindsley from the "Chelan series" and "Wenatchee series" showing Chelan Lake, Field Hotel on the lake, Lincoln Rock, the Stehekin Valley, Bridge Creek, mail steamer "Tourist," Mt. Agenes, and more. 

Condition generally good, with 3 loose images, wear and abrasion to cover, and only light wear to photographs and album pages.

Leotta M. Foreman, later Leotta F. Rawson, was the daughter of physician Dr. Brady Hugh Foreman and Emma M. Foreman. She attended Tacoma's Stadium High School, and later the University of Washington.
