Lot Description
[WESTERN AMERICANA]. A group of 153 RPPCs and photographs of the American West.

The lot includes approx. 127 real photo postcards, 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 in., or smaller, many unused, 3 stereoviews, and 23 silver gelatin photographs, 3 3/4 x 6 in., or smaller, documenting the landscapes, landmarks, businesses, residences, events, personalities, and wildlife of the Western United States. Multiple images of Alaska, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah are represented in the collection. Many of the scenes are identified in the negative. 

Highlighted titles/scenes include: Street view of Deming, NM. -- Elephant Butte, Hot Springs, New Mexico. -- Main Street, Grand Junction, CO. -- Tourists taken a trip on the Mt. Manitou Scenic Incline. -- A snow-covered street scene in Monroe, WA. -- Bird's-eye view of Tekoa, WA. -- Tent City, Bay Ocean, OR. -- Rockaway, OR. -- Alberta Claire, a girl from Wyoming who traveled across the United States on borseback. -- Street scene, Waxahachie, TX. -- Exterior view of the Idaho Lumber Co. -- Washington State Penitentiary Grounds. -- Casino at Cambria Park, WY. -- Street scene, Taft, MT. -- School house, Cascade, MT. -- Multiple views of cowboys and ranchers. -- Hangman's Tree, Judge Bean's Court, Langtry, TX. -- First Avenue, Seattle, WA. -- "Col. Brady" of Sutherland's Buffet, Butte, MT (showing dog wearing heat and smoking a cigar). -- Farmers on a plow being pulled by a team of horses in Wilbur, WA. -- World War I-period parade at Ogden, UT. -- 2 stereoviews of the Signal Station at Pikes Peak, one credited to Gurnsey, Colorado Springs, CO, the other credited to the Reading Room Gallery, Canon City, CO. 

Together, approx. 153 real photo postcards and photographs. Condition generally good to very good. Some with edge wear, including trimmed edges, toning, and album residue to verso.
