Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Quarter plate tintype of a triple-armed private wearing a knitted smoking cap.
Quarter plate tintype full standing portrait of a young private wearing a state issue shell jacket with cloth epaulettes, likely a midwesterner. (Scratches to plate, including around mat opening, spotting, and other imperfections throughout, oxidation to mat and preserver; unsealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case (significant wear including separation to top and bottom edges of case and holes drilled at corners of both covers). The subject wears a fez-like knitted smoking cap and is armed with what appears to be a P53 Enfield rifle, a belted Smith & Wesson No. 2 revolver, and a Bowie knife held in a scabbard.
