Approx. 8 3/4 x 5 1/4 in. flag remnant constituting a largely white field with a thin red border on an approx. 1 in. portion, and inscription one one side "Piece of flag taken at Pittsburg Landing." Housed in plastic bag presumably inscribed in Carroll J. Delery's hand "Shiloh CSA Flag Remnant."

The Battle of Shiloh (also known as the Battle of Pittsburg Landing) was fought 6-7 April 1862 in southwestern Tennessee. The battle was a costly victory for the Union forces led by then Major Ulysses S. Grant, and was one of the bloodiest battles of the war.
