Lot Description
[WWII - NAVY]. 70+ signatures of submariners, PT Boat captains, & anti-U-Boat sailors.
Large lot housed in 4 separate binders featuring ephemera relating to World War II accompanied by companion documentation such as background research, articles, etc.
Two binders include signatures, research, and other materials associated with the following: Vice Admiral Lawson P. Ramage, MOH recipient and Commanding Officer of the submarine USS Parche, one of the most highly decorated boats of the Pacific Submarine Force; sub-commander Vice Admiral Frederick J. Harlfinger, II; Commander Richard H. O'Kane, MOH recipient; Admiral Eugene B. Fluckey, Commander USS Barb, MOH recipient; and dozens of other submariners. Also notable are a modern paper image of the destroyer USS Borie signed by more than 20 crew members, and a 1937 shore leave pass for "T.B. Brigman" signed by Howard W. Gilmore, later recipient of the MOH as Commander of the USS Growler.
A third binder contains signatures, letters, testimonials and documentation associated with P.T. Boats and crews including information on over a dozen crewman and a history of the Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron Thirteen.
The fourth binder focuses on the USS Indianapolis, with articles, modern photographs, survivor signatures, and a typed 41pp testimonial from Robert H. Brundige, a survivor of the disaster.
