[CIVIL WAR]. CDV-sized tintype of a Union cavalryman posed against a military camp background.

2 x 3 3/8 in. tintype standing portrait of a cavalryman wearing what appears to be a red plaid shirt underneath what appears to be a state jacket. He holds a cavalry saber against the ground and wears a M 1851 eagle-in-wreath belt plate. (Multiple bends to plate, surface crackling and creasing to image especially in lower portion; unsealed.) Housed in a Very Rare Union case with geometric design [3-58] (nicking, surface soiling). 

[With:] Ninth plate oval tintype standing portrait of an infantry corporal wearing a rumpled forage cap and gold-highlighted box breast plate and "US" belt plate, and holding his bayonetted rifle with one arm. (Surface scratches and light abrasions to plate, especially bottom portion; unsealed.) Housed in an Rare oval Union case with geometric design [3-415] (slightly loose hinge, nicking).
