"Imperial carte de visite" of W.T. Sherman. A rare, unpublished image taken on the day he sat with his generals in 1865. New York and Washington, DC: Brady's National Portrait Galleries, [1865]. 4 x 5 1/2 in. albumen photograph on cardstock mount, which is thinner than later cabinet card mounts (very fine). Provenance: The collection of Benjamin Cummings Truman, Civil War correspondent. -- Union Commanders. Composite image of Abraham Lincoln and his generals, including Grant, Sherman, Meade, Sheridan, Hooker, Farragut, and others. Boston: The Notman Photo Co., ca 1880s. 4 x 5 1/2 in. photograph on cardstock mount (some surface loss to lower left corner of mount). Verso with advertisement for the Travelers Life and Accident Insurance Company of Hartford, CT. -- Together, 2 cabinet cards.
