.40 caliber. 32" octagonal barrel length. SN: NSN. Bare metal finish. Full length highly figured Bastogne walnut stock has rococo style molding carved to grip and forearm. Flintlock jaeger rifle with neoclassical notch rear sight and fleur-de-lis brass blade front sight. Item features a patchbox on right side of butt, sling swivels, and double set triggers. Stock has an inlaid compass to cheekrest that appears to be made of elk horn, ebony, and a type of blonde wood. Comb of buttplate has carved elk horn knotwork panels. Buttplate has a ball rest and is carved elk horn with a scene of Diana the Huntress and hound. Ferrules and forend cap are also carved elk horn. Patchbox cover has a carved elk horn panel showing Diana intertwined with scroll. Sideplate is cast brass showing a scene that appears to be Diana and a unicorn intertwined with filigree. Top of wrist shows two cast brass filigree fittings with intertwined grotesques and neoclassical motifs. Bottom edge of cheekrest has a brass plate showing a scene of hunter and bear, and right side face of butt shows a cast brass lion fitting. Triggerguard is cast brass neoclassical style with silver grotesques, and there is a brass filigree fitting in front of triggerguard. Included with item is wood ramrod with ebony tip, leather sling, and ramrod attachment in patchbox.
