Markings include U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1917 to the butt, and UNITED STATES PROPERTY along the underside of the barrel. An {Eagle's Head/S15} inspector mark is struck into the upper left frame. No inspector stamps visible on the stocks, which show signs of sanding and refinishing. Further stamps include H initial to the rear cylinder and underside of barrel, along with a C on the left triggerguard. Standard Colt New Service pattern production marks include the {Rampant Colt} to the sideplate COLT D.A. 45 on the left barrel, and two line address and patent atop the barrel reading COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A./PAT'D AUG. 5, 1884. JUNE 5, 1900. JULY 4, 1905. The assembly number assigned by Colt on the internal frame reads 276490.
