.45 ACP. 5.5" barrel length. SN: X1436. Green Parkerized metal finish and checkered walnut Smith & Wesson medallion grips. Lanyard loop to butt, with polished hammer and trigger, as well as US inspection and property marks. Double-action hand ejector revolver on Smith & Wesson five screw frame. Item shows standard address mark to top of barrel. Underside of barrel marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". Left upper frame shows {Ordnance Bomb} logo with {Eagle}/59 mark to rear triggerguard. Rear cylinder marked {Eagle}/S24. Butt is marked U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1917. Serial numbers do not match, and barrel lacks serial number marking. Item originally manufactured with a blued finish. Revolvers of this pattern were refinished during World War II. X prefix serial numbers were applied to firearms that were stolen from and later recovered by the government.
