[CIVIL WAR - EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of Civil War stereoviews & Stereographoscope.

A group of 15 items, comprised of the following:

12 stereoviews, several from-life photographs, as well as scenes after lithographs/engravings. Highlighted scenes/subjects include: Fourth of July in and About New York. Cavalry entering the Park from Tryon Row, July 4th, 1860. New York: Anthony. 2-cent US Internal Revenue stamp on verso. -- Maj. Gen. Geo. B. McClellan. New York: Anthony. -- National Military Cemetery, Graves, Nashville, Tenn. Rochester, NY: Webster & Albee. -- New York City & Vicinity. War-date view of a group of men in uniform, possibly naval subjects. -- Post-war view of monuments at the Chickamauga Battlefield. -- View that appears to have been taken aboard a gunboat (toning, soiling throughout). -- And 6 others.

[With:] CDV, lithographed portrait of "Old Abe," the eagle carried by the 8th Wisconsin Regiment during their three years' campaign. Chicago: Sewell & Spalding (toning, some soiling). Printed details on verso. -- General Hooker & Staff. Lookout Valley Winter, ca 1863-1864. 5 x 7 in. modern print with printed details and inked notation on verso indicating that it was made "from an original plate."

[Also with:] Wood stereographoscope approx. 3 x 5 5/8 x 8 3/4 in. (when closed) (wear consistent with age and use, surface wear, some loose pieces).

Together, 15 items. Condition of photographs generally good to fair. Most with toning, occasional soiling, edge and corner wear to mounts.
