Lot Description
Composite Flintlock Blunderbuss Pistol
12 Bore. 8.75" barrel length. SN: NSN. Bright metal finish with walnut stocks featuring brass furnishings and a cross pin retained barrel. Single shot flintlock pistol with flared muzzle that shows signs of rebuilding to mount the current lock. A weak firing proof mark remains visible on the lock, and five notches have been cut into each side of the triggerguard and to the internal parts of the lock. The touch hole is deformed, and the metal work shows signs of aggressive cleaning and polishing overall. Touch hole aligns poorly with the pan. Lockplate screws are numbered 67, and the forward screw protrudes from the plate and fails to fully tighten.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
Condition Report
Good. Bore is Dark with patina and deep pitting throughout. There is a chip to the right muzzle, and all external metal parts show polishing marks. The interior surface of the cock is discolored, suggesting it may have been rewelded. Brass components show weak edges with a light amber tarnish forming. Wood stock has a crack forming to the left forend from the muzzle to the first lockplate screw. Two more cracks are forming on the right stock forward of the lockplate.
