Single action loading gate revolver sporting a six-shot cylinder with a smokeless powder frame, blackpowder rifling, and a kidney shaped ejector rod head. Left frame is marked with the two-line patent marking followed by the {Rampant Colt} within a circle logo. Additionally, the left trigger has been struck with a T inspector mark and Colt's VP monogram proof. The top of the barrel shows the two-line address mark reading COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A., and a caliber marking of 45 COLT to the left barrel. The serial numbers match on the frame and gripstraps. An assembly number of 2948 has been struck into the loading gate.
