** US Military Colt Model 1911 Pistol Manufactured in 1918
World War I

.45 ACP. 5" barrel length. SN: 357505. (Mfg. Ca 1918) Brushed blued metal finish with walnut diamond checkered grips, flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop, and frame without relief cuts. Single action short recoil operated autoloading pistol fed by detachable single stack magazines. The left slide is marked PATENTED APR. 20, 1897. SEPT. 9. 1902/DEC. 19, 1905. FEB. 14, 1911. AUG. 19, 1913 followed by the {Rampant Colt} logo and then the address marking COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. Right slide marking reads MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY. The inner slide shows Q, B, 5, and 4 markings and an H stamp to the top of the hammer recess. Left frame markings include UNITED STATES PROPERTY to left frame, along with the {Eagle Head/S8} government inspection stamp. Top of the frame forward of the hammer recess shows H and G stamps. Barrel is marked with separate P and H markings perpendicular to the axis of the bore, correct for 1911 pistols produced in this serial range. Item additionally shows a 5 underneath forward of the link. Grips are unmarked, and the item comes with a Type IV style Colt magazine.

Condition Report

Good to Very Good. Bore is Bright with strong rifling throughout and some brown patina forming. The metal finish on the slide has worn down overall with some traces of blue remaining in the slide cut, around the sights, and on the cocking serrations. The gripstrap finish has worn down with a mottled gray patina on both gripstraps and the grip safety. Brush finish remains visible overall, and the blued finish on the flanks of the frame and around the triggerguard is strong. The grips show some scattered dents, and a spot of smoothing over the checkering on the right grip panel near the opposite side of the magazine release. Magazine shows insertion wear and some brown patina forming in patches overall.
