Lot Description
** Erfurt Luger Dated 1917
World War I

9mm Para. 3.9" barrel length. SN: 8395. Blued metal finish with checkered walnut grips and wood base plug magazine. Short recoil operated striker fired toggle locking autoloading pistol fed by detachable single stack magazines. The barrel extension is dated 1917, with the toggle link showing the {Crown/ERFURT} manufacturer marking. Balance of parts show Imperial German crown over gothic letter inspection markings. The right barrel, barrel extension, and left breechblock all show the {Reichsadler} marking. Safety marking of GESICHERT struck into the left frame. The serial number is without suffix, and the item features a barrel gauge marking of 8,82. Replaced extractor lacks the GELADEN marking and fits poorly with gaps left on either side of the head. Moreover, the bolt head has been cut down on either side of the extractor channel to permit the new mounting. Grips have been replaced and are dated 1916 in pencil on the interior with number 50 struck into both panels. Serial numbers to all other parts match. Magazine is non matching with the base plug serial reading 9517c

WARNING: The extractor has potentially compromised the integrity of the breechblock. Item should be inspected by an experienced gunsmith prior to firing.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.

Good. Bore is Frosty with light pitting throughout. The blued finish shows some light pitting along the left flank of the barrel and barrel extension, and on the forward frame ahead of the triggerguard. Remaining blued finish shows some scattered mars and scratches with brown patina forming in all losses. The base plug of the magazine has rounded edges indicative of refinishing. Grip screw heads are stripped.

WARNING: The extractor has potentially compromised the integrity of the breechblock. Item should be inspected by an experienced gunsmith prior to firing.
