The markings include the two line patent mark reading PAT SEPT 19 1871./JULY 2 72 JAN. 19. 75. followed by the {Rampant Colt} within a circle marking on the left frame. Triggerguard displays the VP monogram proof mark and W initial. Barrel address is in a single line reading COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO/HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. The cylinder is replaced and shows a non circled {Rampant Colt} to the rear surface and serial number 196 on the front. Barrel is a replacement that is serial numbered 3062 beneath the ejector rod housing, and shows martial inspection markings including the P initial and J.T.C. initials of John T. Cleveland. No further marital markings are visible. The name Ken S. French has been weakly struck into the butt by hand using punch marks.
