Lock marked in three vertical lines at the tail: SPRING/FIELD/1833 and with a {Spread-Winged Eagle}/US forward of the cock. Lock remains in original flint configuration with an inspected removable brass pan, and with most internal parts with sub-inspection marks and single punch dot mating marks. Breech marked with P/{Eagle Head}/V inspections and an 11. Breech plug tang dated 1833, matching the lock. Counterpane with two soft, mostly illegible cartouches and a weak final inspection cartouche is present behind the triggerguard in the toe line of the stock. Musket retains both sling swivels and a correct pattern, full-length button head ramrod with threads at the end. Includes a correct pattern US Model 1816/22/27 socket bayonet marked US/TA at the ricasso that fits the musket.
