Lot Description
*Factory Class A Engraved Smith & Wesson Model 52-2 Pistol in Factory Box
.38 Special Mid-Range Wadcutter. 5" barrel. SN: A488078. Blued finish, checkered hardwood S&W medallion grips. Single action magazine fed semi-automatic pistol that only accepts flush fit .38 Special mid-range wadcutter ammunition for use in Bullseye Matches. Standard Smith & Wesson markings, fully adjustable rear sight, ramped semi-Patridge front sight, adjustable trigger, adjustable barrel bushing. The pistol is Factory Class A engraved with nearly full coverage which features flowing foliate scrolls on the frame, slide, with the top of the slide matted and additional foliate designs on the upper portion of the backstrap, edges of the frontstrap and the triggerguard. The pistol includes two magazines. The pistol is contained in its original blue cardboard factory box with the end label appropriately numbered to the gun, noting "A" Eng D-140 in the "Special Features" box and with a yellow A/ENG marked sticker on the box end as well. The box includes the original factory paperwork, as well as a cleaning rod and brush.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
Very good to near fine. The bore is very good, somewhat frosty with strong rifling and should clean up, as the frosting may be old dried grease. The pistol retains nearly all of the factory finish and shows little if any real use, but has suffered from poor storage. The pistol shows scattered areas of light surface oxidation and some thin hazy surface rust, mostly in the cocking serrations, the front strap grooves and around the rear sight and front sight ramp. A careful cleaning and sonic bath would likely restore the gun to nearly new condition. Action appears mechanically functional and the pistol cycles correctly by hand. The box shows moderate wear.
