Lot of Three U.S. Socket Bayonets Including: 1795 and 1816
War of 1812 - Mexican-American War
1.) U.S. Transitional 1795 type Socket Bayonet, circa 1810-1812 - 14.25" blade with a rudimentary 6.625" face flute. 2.7" socket with a three-step Z-shaped mortise cut for a top stud with a 1.13" muzzle to stud distance. Thick shank with flat face. Socket with thin, rudimentary bridge. Face of blade marked US perpendicular to the blade, mating mark L at front of mortise cut on socket.

2.) U.S. 1795 Type III Socket Bayonet, circa 1812-1814 - 14.5" blade with rudimentary 6.5" face flute. 3.15" socket with crude three-step T-mortise cut for a top stud and without a bridge and a 1.42" muzzle to stud distance. Muzzle diameter is nominally .85" but the muzzle shows dings and dents and is not completely round. Face of blade marked IN US and with file slash marks.

3.) U.S. 1816/22/27 Socket Bayonet - 16" prow point blade with 9.5" face flute. 19" in overall length. 3" socket with three-step T-mortise cut for a top stud and with a bridge and a 1.16" muzzle to stud distance. Face of blade marked US/TA over an illegible mark. Socket numbered 18 at end of mortise cut.
