8vo. Frontispiece and 15 plates by Philip Dadd. (Spotting throughout). Original tan cloth pictorially stamped in yellow, green, and black, top edge gilt (lacking scarce dust jacket, slight soiling, a touch of wear to extremities, hinges loose). Provenance: Sold Chas. E Lauriat Co., Boston (bookseller's ticket to front flyleaf).
FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE, with 2 pages of advertisements at end listing Wodehouse's previous 4 books. In Heineman's variant 2 binding. This retelling of the legend of William Tell in prose and verse was dedicated to "Biddy O'Sullivan," the last of Wodehouse's 43 dedicatees to be traced, only identified as the young daughter of actor Denis O'Sullivan in 2006.
