Very rare first edition of Scotsman James Barclay's account of his travels through the Carolinas and Georgia from 1770-72, containing his detailed observations on slavery and plantation life before the American Revolution.
According to RBH, this is the first copy at auction since the C.G. Littel sale in 1945, where it was then described as "excessively rare and apparently unrecorded. Not mentioned by Sabin, Field, Evans, Rich, or Church, and not indexed as having appeared at public sale in England or in this country."
