London: John Van Voorst, 1858. First edition. 8vo. iv, (iv), 40, 15 (ads), (1, index) pp. Illustrated with six black and white and half-tone lithographs, by J. Erxleben, after drawings by Eyton. Full modern green niger, stamped in gilt; all edges gilt; light foxing to prelims and text; small closed tear in bottom edge of plate 4.
A previous cataloguer calls this a "crucial work on the oyster."
