[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY - PORTRAITURE]. A group of 21 assorted daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tintypes, and CDVs of men, women, and children, with Kenosha, WI album with tintypes, CDVs, and cabinet cards.
Tintype half-length seated portrait of a cavalry officer. 2 3/8 x 3 5/8 in. hand-tinted tintype. (Upper corner clipped, light wear at edges).
The young mustachioed officer, slightly cross-eyed, wears a kepi with the 1st regiment, company B designation, though the state is unknown. His cheeks are lightly hand-colored.
[With:] 1 quarter plate daguerreotype, 1 quarter plate tintype, 1 sixth plate daguerreotype, 7 sixth plate ambrotype, 3 sixth plate tintype, 1 albumen photograph in sixth plate case, 1 ninth plate daguerreotype, 1 ninth plate ambrotype, 2 ninth plate tintype
2 sixteenth plate tintype. -- Together, 20 cased image portraits, most in leather and pressed paper cases. Also with 1 quarter plate size pressed paper case with no image.
[Also with:] Maroon morocco and gilt album (light wear to extremities, clasp possibly later) housing 40 albumen CDVs (some smaller), 20 uncased tintypes (most CDV sized), and 11 albumen cabinet cards. Identified to the Kenosha, Wisconsin area.
