FIRST EDITION history of the 14th Vermont Infantry chronicling its service from 21 October 1861 until 21 July 1863. Written and published by Corporal J.C. Williams of Company B, 14th Vermont Infantry. Much of the book revolves around the Battle of Gettysburg (the regiment’s only battle), and the role the 14th played in the defense of the Union line during Pickett’s charge on 3 July 1863, resulting in 97 casualties.
