Civil War infantry officer's hat insignia with regimental number "4."
3 1/2 x 2 3/8 in. Model 1858 federal infantry officer's bugle headgear insignia (general wear commensurate with age and use, good condition). Comprised of gold and silver bullion embroidery upon black velvet with tarred paper backing. Regimental number "4" directly embroidered in silver bullion rather than separately applied in metal.
