Lot Description
Civil War patriotic tobacco pouch. Manufactured by the Ridgewood MF Co., New York. Patented 20 May 1862.
5 x 3 1/2 x 1 1/4 in. metal and leather tobacco pouch with sliding metal door between the metal and leather portions of the pouch (wear to leather; tarnish and some surface wear to metal). Markings include “Patented May 20, 1862,” “The Ridgewood Patent & Tobacco Case,” “By the Ridgewood MF Co.,” “Office / 420 Broadway / New York.” The name "Wm. H. Wiener" is engraved on a blue background inside the metal case, and engravings of a locomotive and a military camp scene are also included.
