Lot Description

Civil War caricature CDV of soldier eating hardtack. 1861. 

2 3/8 x 4 1/8 in. printed image on thin cardstock featuring a wide-eyed Union soldier eating a huge piece of hardtack (light toning, some spotting). The number "61" is visible on the soldier’s forage cap, most likely designating the start of the war - 1861. No backmark.
