Civil War Sutler James L. Jones, 1st Massachusetts Volunteers. Signed CDV and price list.
CDV seated portrait of Jones. Boston, MA: J.W. Black, [1860s]. 2 1/8 x 3 1/8 in. albumen photograph on cardstock mount (trimmed along upper edge, with some stray marks throughout). Signed "James L. Jones. / Sutler 1st Mass. Vols." on mount recto. Black's imprint on verso.
[With:] Partly printed document being a "Price List of Goods for 3d Brigade 3rd Div. 3d A. Corps..." 1 page, 8 1/2 x 13 7/8 in. (creased, rips and tears to edges). List issued to Jones and other sutlers of his brigade outlining what they could charge for their goods. Prices were determined by a board of officers of the 3rd Brigade, 3rd Division, III Army Corps on 29 January 1864. Signed by Captain and Assistant Quartermaster Charles M. Sampson.
