A Federal Mahogany Chest of Drawers

18th/19th Century

Height 39 x width 43 x depth 22 inches.

Condition Report

In overall fine, stable and usable condition. Retaining a fairly even color and refinished surface throughout. The underside inscribed Bottom in old chalk. Old scuffs, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Dirt and residue visible in areas. Lacking key for locks. Few areas of veneer loss or veneer patches throughout. Other areas of veneer cracking and light lifting visible. The proper rear left foot bracket is cracked and reglued, though only visible from the underside or rear. The drawer pulls, while seemingly of the period, are replaced. The interior of each drawer shows a later varnish and the top drawer shows later compartments added.
