Dr. Jerome H. Holland (1916-1985) most notably served as President of Delaware State College from 1953-1960, President of Hampton Institute from 1960-1970, and United States Ambassador to Sweden from 1970-1972. He broke barriers as the an African American in a number of leadership circles, including the board of the New York Stock Exchange, the American Red Cross Board of Governors, and MIT's governing body, "The Corporation."
