CDV depicting an older foreign officer standing next to a seated female. Chicago, IL: E.L. Brand. Note the two single cuff curls indicating a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy, perhaps an observer. Cuff curls had not yet been adopted by the US Navy. A most unusual image. -- A young Midshipman as indicated by the single star on the sleeves (1864 Regulations), wearing a sword and belt rig. Cairo, IL: J.J. Munn. -- A bearded Lieutenant (1852 Regulations). Boston, MA: Whipple. -- Likely a Commander with double-wide stripes (1852 Regulations) wearing dress epaulettes. Uncredited. -- A pair of junior officers. New Orleans, LA: Theo Lilienthal. The man on the left is a Midshipmen while the officer at right a Master (1852 Regulations). -- A Master wearing two narrow cuff stripes beneath the star (1864 Regulations). Brooklyn, NY: Bill Bros. -- Portrait of an Ensign impersonating Napoleon. Vicksburg, MS: Barr & Young. With ink stamp from "French & Co., Vicksburg." Rank is indicated by the narrow stripe beneath the star (1864 Regulations).

Together, 7 CDVs, 2 1/4 x 3 1/2 in., or smaller, on cardstock mounts. The cartes are uniformly very good with minor wear.
