The subject wears shoulder straps with a single unreadable device in the center. -- A seated Lieutenant Commander with three and one narrow strips on the cuff (1864 Regulations) although the single sleeve star is missing, which seems to be a common occurrence given the numerous changes in year to year wartime regulations..
