Lot Description
[MILITARIA]. Collection of over 75 late 19th-early 20th century medals, pinbacks, and souvenirs, with books and Civil War ephemera, including:

General John. J. Pershing.1917. 3 1/4 in. diameter glass paperweight (some scratching to gilt on reverse). -- Chiang Kai Shek pinback. 1 3/4 in. diam. -- Pinback with portrait of Mao Zedong. 2 1/2 in. diam. metal pinback. 

Stamped medal with loops at top and bottom on verso, possibly to hang other parts of a multi-part pin. At present it has a pin through the two loops. Recto has olive wreath with tripart shield in center. Top left has ribbon with “Monneur” and 1635 below on green enameled background; top right has ribbon with “Fidelie” and 1921 below on red enameled background; bottom has “Nec Pluribus impar” and sun on a blue enameled background. A number “1” is between the two parts of the ribbon. Also with “Draco / Paris” on verso.

Felt patch with embroidered “C.C.R. & P.A. / 1941.” Pinned to it are two medals, one is two-part with a top bar “Baehr Medal,” and bottom with a target, verso with “1947 Ladies Champ Rosa Katona.” Second medal with Baker Medal Match / 1947 and crossed rifles on front; verso with “4-Man / Team Champs / J. Katona.”

Bicentennial Souvenir Money from Littletown, PA, 1765 – 1965, celebration held 1st through 7th of August. At present it has a hole at top and is mounted on a purple ribbon. 1.25 in. diam.

Souvenir bronze “coin” from Sesquicentennial of New Castle, Henry County, Indiana. One side with covered bridge and “Trails to Turnpikes / 1922 / 1972.” 1.5 in. diameter.

.45-70 cartridge with a signed note indicating that it was found in an Indian position overlooking the Reno-Benteen entrenchments at  the Custer Battlefield.

[With:] Assortment of medals and pinbacks, including: pins of the 1st through 16th cavalries. Two from each regiment, but not necessarily a pair. Some have one collar pin and one shirt pin, for example. -- Two medals with wishbone with wings, unit unidentified. -- One 26th division Tank Company, and one each from the 1st through 4th Armored Divisions. -- Pins with crossed swords (cavalry): one plain, one with a “1,” one with “7,” one with “5” above/ “F below; and one  with “8” above / “B” below. -- Circular pins (13 total):  Two with crossed swords (different). Two with “U.S.;” one with “U.S. / 2;” one with “U.S. / 3.”  One with OH over swords. One each with swords over / E; /HQ; / A; / F; / K; and / G. -- Two “U.S.” pins. -- Two double silver bars. -- Three ribbon bars, one with two ribbons, two with four each. -- 2-part sharpshooter pin; 2-part pin with target on equal-armed cross with “swords” on hanging bar; 3-part pin with same target on cross and two bars, bayonet and carbine. Plus medal with ribbon, “Honor Rifle Team / Chief of Cavalry.” And 3-part medal with “U.S. Army” on pin bar; “In Memory of My Army Life on the Mexican Border” on the second bar; large medal with eagle on shield with list of engagements on verso, beginning with Columbus, N.M.

Eighth Annual Banquet of The Maryland Society of New York, at the Hotel Astor, Feb. 20, 1906. 5 x 7.5 in.

[Also with:]  A group of commemorative business awards and paperweights, comprising: Three bronze Eastman presentation medals, each 3 in. diam., for “…more than a quarter century of loyal service with the Eastman Kodak Company.” One presented to Anna L. Hoefen, 1954; one to James G. Russell, 1961; and the third to Gordon E Davis, 1961. Includes one stand.

Bronze paperweight for The Capitol Fuel Company, Cleveland. Verso with three feet. The capitol rotunda on top of a pile of coal. 3 in. diam.

Bronze plaque with J.K. Lillly on recto. Verso with “1876 / Commemorating / the Fiftieth Anniversary / of the Founding of / Eli Lilly and Company / and / the Fiftieth Anniversary / of the Connection with / the Company of / Josiah Kirby Lilly / its / Beloved President / 1926.” 3 x 4 in. in its original velvet and silk lined box.

Bronze, 3 in. diam., R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, 1875 – 1975 on recto. Verso with “RJR” logo, “Centennial” and examples of the Reynolds companies – paper roll, oil derrick, one might be Del Monte Foods, another Hawaiian Punch, plus shipping with Sea-Land Service. In its original velvet “nest” and box. 

[With:] Civil War-era ephemera including: enlistment form for Joseph Schneemann, 20th New York, as a Corporal, 6 May 1861. He was assigned to Co. D, and mustered out at the end of his term of service in June 1863. -- "Dime Novel." Gordon, Genl. James A. Pluck and Luck. Complete Stories of Adventure. Loyal to the Last; or, Fighting for the Stars and Stripes. New York Jan. 16, 1907." -- "Last Rose of Summer." Poem by Thomas Moore (Ireland), 1805. Plus "First Rose of Summer." Likely a songsheet. Appears to be Civil War era. --  General Orders No. 7, 23rd Maine, Sept. 25, 1862. Appointment of Stephen Kenney as hospital steward of the regiment. On 23rd Maine letterhead. -- A History of George W. Murray, and his Long Confinement at Andersonville. Also the Starvation and Death of his Three Brothers at the Same Place. To take place Sept. 12 - 14, n.y. (ca. 1882). Approx. 3 x 5.5 in. -- Program for the Reunion of the 39th Illinois Volunteers, Gibson City, October 9, 1890. Approx 3.25 x 4.75 in.
