Washington, DC, 8 April 1900. Concerning a personal visit. -- Together, 2 letters. Condition issues include creasing and spotting.
[With:] ALGER, Russell A. (1836-1907). Typed Note Signed ("R. A. Alger"). Washington, DC, 24 August 1898. Secretary of War Alger writes to the Officers of the Commanding US Forces concerning the right of passage for Illinois Congressman William H. Hinrichsen.
[With:] 6 1/2 x 9 5/8 in. (sheet) lithograph print depicting George Dewey with facsimile signature printed below (creased, with some tearing to edges).
[Also with:] Facsimile printed ALS. Manila, Philippines. 21 February 1898. Addressed to Messrs. L.F. Doll & Co., giving thanks for a watch he received.
William H. Hinrichsen was elected Illinois Secretary of State in 1892, and to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1896.
