[SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR]. A group of milk glass, paperweights, glasses, and other souvenirs including items commemorating the Maine and Admiral Dewey, including:
Set of 3 drinking glasses featuring the likenesses of Admiral George Dewey, Commodore Schley, and Admiral Sampson, each 3 3/4 in. ht. (Sampson glass noticeably thicker). -- 2 milk glass butter dishes, one featuring the bust of Admiral George Dewey with crossed flags surmounting a brickwork structure, the other being a likeness of the USS Maine, both approx. 4 1/2 in. ht. (soiling). -- 4 glass paperweights, including two featuring phtoographic portraits of Admiral George Dewey and Lieutenant Hobson, USN, the other two featuring artistic representations of the USS Maine and Admiral George Dewey, the "Hero of Manila." Varying sizes, largest approx. 2 1/2 in. ht. -- Approx. 20 x 20 double-sided silk case made of 4 Pan American Exposition flags. Pan American Exposition Co., 1901 (some discoloration, fading, and puckering to silk in multiple areas). -- Set of 9 magic lantern slides featuring subjects and scenes from the Spanish American War, each 1 7/8 x 7 in. (one with loss to upper right corner). -- And 8 other items representing Admiral George Dewey or the USS Maine. -- Together, 27 souvenir items commemorating the Spanish American War and the "Hero of Manila," Admiral George Dewey.
